Hiking in Gifu, Japan

So I have just a little under one month left of my study abroad! I'm having a great time, but I'm also super excited to start college this September...I'm feeling like I've got plenty ahead of me to keep me busy.

As a side note, I've been spending a ton of money here...which is great and all, but with college housing fees looming ahead, I'm pretty dang sure I'm gonna need to return to my old job. Working at a LAN center is a pretty sweet gig, but work is work...so I'll enjoy the freedom for now haha xD

Recently I haven't been up to much, what with being in the smack middle of midterms and all. So far it hasn't been too bad...just Japanese and Writing (which is essentially an English test). I got a 95 on my Japanese test, but I still got two Japanese tests to go...and they get progressively difficult veryyy quickly. As for Writing, well you'd think that'd be a piece of cake, but in reality there were plenty of translate-from-english-to-japanese and translate-from-japanese-to-english which can be really difficult, especially if you aren't familiar with the grammar or what-not.

Other than that, there's Biology, World History, Reading, and Modern Lit to look forward to. I especially don't understand Modern Lit....I'm lucky that I have the option of turning any of my class to "self-study/A+" if I don't like the alternative grade I earned...it obviously makes things less stressful. But I still put a ton of effort in my classes (well most of the time). Today alone I studied Japanese for hours...probably around 6 or so.. but let's all keep in mind it's consistency that matters..

So, on to this post's explanation. About a month ago I went hiking with my host sisters and host grandpa (who is a total badass). We basically walked uphill along a really pretty river in the mountains, and near the top there was a waterfall. I've had plenty of great experiences here, but this hike was definitely one of the best.

One of the first pictures I took came out great! If I have
n't mentioned it a billion times already, when you hear Gifu, the first thing that should come to mind is MOUNTAINS. GLORIOUS MOUNTAINS.

There were plenty of small, local shops along the way!

Information about the walk to the waterfall. It was really close by :)

Gourds are really, really big here. Apparently it's Gifu's "thing"

 Walking alongside the river

 "be careful!!"

Posing for a photo with my host sis :)

You only wish you were this cool

The trees were such a vibrant, brilliant green~

The pathway had both "steps" and smooth paths, which I assume were some sort of wheelchair access. Regardless, it was totally awesome to walk on these little paths xD

The trees grow however they want. DON'T YOU TELL 'EM HOW TO GROW

 So strong.

Lola (Japanese model who frequently shows up on TV) copycat action!

I'm know I look like an idiot. Iduncare ;)

What they say about asian babies is true

 And our destination!

Posing in front of the waterfall :)

On the way back down I spotted this little treasure of a car. I wish I could take it back home with me. I'd be the coolest kid EVAR

And back to the gourds. Well I seriously have to get back to studying. I'm planning on watching Sadako 3D after all this silly test stuff is over. (Sadako 3D is like the Ring but a sequel..I think. I'll have to get back to you on that)

Miss you guys! :)
